Innovative products for retail store campaigns

Something that has a huge impact across many of the retail projects we work on, is the use of innovative products that create bespoke interactive experiences. Here, we’ll break down some of the products you can make use of in your 2026/27 in-store retail campaigns.

Lift and learn interactive technology

Retail brands with products at their core, such as footwear, fragrance or cosmetics, get high value from the use of lift and learn technology. Object recognition, usually created by RFID, allows products to be lifted or replaced to reveal digital content. This can be personalised depending on each individual product, for example each fragrance triggering its own lighting state or content display.

Interactive triggers and sensors

As well as the use of creative, high-resolution screens to display content, retail brands also have the option to use triggers and sensors to create custom interactivity. For example having a visitor touch a certain product or part of a display to trigger a projection to appear. One powerful way we’ve helped this to be used was for the launch of Viktor & Rolf’s Good Fortune fragrance launch, where a visitor’s hands touching a “crystal ball” triggered a random projected fortune.

Touchscreens, touch tables and overlays

Touchscreens are a great way to boost interaction and touch overlays can be applied to many types of screens, creating an impressive custom-sized touchscreen display on a non-touch screen. This allows store visitors to interact with the content as part of their journey. In the case of a recent project supporting StudioXAG for Escentric Molecules, we created a custom 1m x 1m diameter touch table that allowed each customer to interact with the brand, and each interaction responded with swirling animations which then mapped to a specific fragrance.

Interactive photobooths

Branded photobooths are one of the most impactful and fun ways to create brand engagement, with an almost unlimited number of customers reached and a branded takeway at the end. At a recent project we worked on for a leading footwear brand, one photo was printed every minute and a half that the store was open. Photobooths can be created in almost any size, shape or design (just check out the “big Apple” design used by Coach below!). VAST is able to supply the entire end-to-end photobooth experience, from the photobooth hardware (touchscreen, camera etc.), through to the fully branded software and photo print-out.
