Reflections on a year working for VAST

It’s been a whole year since I came on-board with VAST as Business Development Director and what a year it’s been! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the incredible achievements we’ve accomplished in the past 12 months and how far we’ve already come, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt so proud.

Here are a few of my personal highlights….

Our biggest ever project

We won and delivered, to the highest standard, our biggest ever project for Next Retail. Seeing 23 locations go live with our product, bringing to life the windows of Next stores over the Christmas period was most certainly a “pat on the back” moment for every member of our team! Definitely a “hats off” to our MD Joseph Smyth too, who dedicated himself to this project leading from the front.

The arrival of our first batch of VAST owned P2.5 LED

The purchase of our P2.5 LED product couldn’t have come at a better time, with projects keeping the new kit in operation across multiple windows and pop-ups over the past few months. We’ve always made decisions on equipment quality and specification with suitability for the retail environment in mind, to ensure we are providing the best possible solution for our clients. The feedback we’ve received from recent projects regarding our P2.5 LED has been amazing and we are so happy to show this off in some of our case studies.

Becoming the award-winning AV company for the retail sector

I can’t say we even expected it… Even though we’ve worked so hard to be the best at what we do, winning the VM & Display award for best use of technology was HUGE for us. It was great to be in a room full of our clients and partners, while we all celebrated great wins collectively. Although the afterparty left our heads sore, it was so worth it.

Doubling our warehouse space and introducing a brand new office for the growing team

As our team and rental fleet has grown rapidly in the past year, we’ve inevitably had to provide additional space for the equipment, warehouse staff, in-house technicians and demonstration areas. We’ve been able to double our warehouse space, and introduced a brand new office for our Account Managers and Project Managers, alongside meeting spaces. This means the entire team can now come together and share ideas and upcoming projects.

My relationship with clients

The biggest compliment for me in the past year has been the AMAZING support I have received from clients and partners that I’ve worked with throughout my career in AV. Almost every client I worked with before joining VAST has personally reached out to me via LinkedIn or other platforms to continue working with myself, showing willingness to believe in VAST and confidence in my ability to support projects. This is by far the most rewarding point for me to reflect on, I am forever grateful for the support and loyalty they have shown.

Securing another investment in the latest P1.9 ultra-fine pitch LED

Our latest investment of ultra-fine pitch LED has massively increased our ability to support premium brands with product launches and campaigns. With this new batch of P1.9mm LED panels due to land in the next few months, joining our earlier purchase of P2.5, we are already seeing a lot of client interest. We expect to see a number of projects utilising the new equipment and cannot wait to show it off some more, once we have our hands on it.

Being awarded recommended digital screen supplier for Harrods

We’ve completed many successful projects within the walls of Harrods, I often call it my second home with the amount of overnights and site visits I’ve attended over the years. As we’ve become a familiar face with the visual merchandising team there, the relationship has built up overtime and as a result, Harrods has become one of our most valued and regular clients.

This year has been a great turning point in my career and will always be the most important chapter. I am looking forward to many more years with VAST, and am very excited to watch the team and the company grow even more.
